Weekend Weather: Peekskill Could See a Foot of Snow

[Update, 2:25 p.m. Dec. 14] The forecast now calls for daytime accumulation between three and five inches.

Here's what the NWS is saying about tonight:

"Snow before 2am, then freezing rain and sleet between 2am and 4am, then rain and sleet after 4am. Temperature rising to around 33 by 5am. East wind 9 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible."

[Original post, 7:45 p.m. Dec. 13] The National Weather Service is calling for Cortlandt and Peekskill to see three to five inches of snow Saturday, and another three to seven that night.

A winter storm warning for Westchester and the surrounding area is in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. Hazard types include "heavy snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain late Saturday night."
