Peekskill's St. Patrick's Day Parade

On Sunday we gave you a snapshot of the exciting St. Pat's Parade in Peekskill. Here are some more photos to remember the day.

The 22nd annual St. Patrick’s Parade in Peekskill was held on Saturday, March 12, at 3 p.m. The grand marshal this year is Father James J. Gardiner,  who is celebrating his 50th anniversary with the Franciscan Friars at Graymoor. He was chosen for his service to Westchester and Putnam counties,  and to the Archdiocese of New York. Father Gardiner also is chaplain of Peekskill’s St. Patrick’s Committee.

The parade was led by the color guard of the Fighting 69th Regiment of the New York National Guard, and its pipe major, Joe Brady.

Mass was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. at Assumption Church in Peekskill, where the parade began. Participants marched through the streets of downtown Peekskill to the reviewing stand on South James Street. The weather was fine, a great day for the Irish.
