Girl Scouts to Celebrate Halloween’s First Baby Girl at HVHC

The Hudson Valley Hospital and a local Girl Scouts troop will celebrate the first baby born on Oct. 31.

October 31 is the birthday of celebrated Girl Scouts Founder Juliette Gordon Low who was born in 1860. So, for the last two years, Local West Lakeland Girl Scouts Troop 2478 has visited the first baby girl born on Oct. 31 at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center and presented her and the mother with a special basket of goodies including a tiny Girl Scout uniform in honor of Founder Low.

This year, the troop has five new members. The group of ten girls, nine are from Lakeland Copper Beach Middle School and one is from Lincoln Titus Elementary School, will present the mother and baby with the basket.

The girls are excited to be part of it, said Troop Leader Donna Reilly. “It is a fun way to promote Girl Scouts.”
