Hudson Valley Hospital Center Patients Celebrate Ash Wednesday

Bed ridden hospital patients kicked of Lent with Ash Wednesday.

Observing religious traditions can be difficult when you’re stuck in a hospital bed. But through Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s Chaplains program, patients’ spiritual needs can be met despite being away from home.

On Ash Wednesday, Rev. Father Vernon Wickrematunge of the Assumption Church in Peekskill and volunteer chaplains were available in the Hudson Valley Hospital Center Chapel to distribute ashes to patients and staff as part of the start of the Lenten season. Volunteer chaplains also visited the patient floors and the Emergency Room.
