It may not be a white Christmas in Peekskill/Cortlandt area this year, but folks should be ready for some major rain and a few snow showers the rest of the week.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the area and is forecasting heavy rain, strong winds and the chance for minor floodin for the area beginning late tonight and continuing into Friday morning. Peekskill could see up to two inches of rain, thunderstorms and strong wind gusts.
The worst of the weather will hit during Friday's rush-hour, morning commute, according to the NWS.
Also, expect snow showers Friday night into early Saturday morning and more snowflakes on Christmas Eve night, according to the NWS. But it looks like Christmas Day is in the clear, with a high of about 36 and partly sunny skies.
