Forecast Calls for a Snow Sunday, Candelmas Service at St. Peters and Kunka Bunka Hits the Stage

Five things you should know for today, Feb. 3.



1.) Snow in Today’s Forecast

The National Weather Service forecast 1 to 2 inches of snow during the overnight, with a 50 percent chance for less than an inch of snow expected today. There  is also a 40 percent chance of more snow during the overnight. Temperatures are expected to reach highs in the low 30s today.


2.) Candlemas Service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church

St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 137 N Division St. in Peekskill, is hosting Candlemas service today at 10 a.m. Candlemas is a Christian holiday celebrated annually on February 2. It celebrates three occasions according to Christian belief: the presentation of the child Jesus; Jesus’ first entry into the temple; and it celebrates the Virgin Mary’s purification.  Light refreshments will follow in Bell Hall, the parish community hall.

3.) Wagner Students to Perform Free Concert for Montrose Vets

The Wagner College Musical Theater is performing a free concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3 at the state Veterans Home at Montrose . 4.) Queen Kunka Bunka and The Rotten Royal Rascals

The Children’s Theater Company of Peekskill is hosting a performance of Queen Kunka Bunka and the Rotten Royals Rascals today at 3 p.m., inside the theater of the Peekskill school district’s administrative building, located on 1031 Elm Street in Peekskill. The performance tells the tale of the land of Kunka Bunka, whose benevolent Queen discovers that none of her rotten royal rascal children are suited to govern the land.

5.) Artisan Fair at the Ajna Wellness Center

The Ajna Wellness Center, 18 Old Post Rd. South in Croton-on-Hudson, is hosting a wellness fair today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local handmade items like eramics, jewelry, clothing, purses and herbal lotions will be on sale.
