Come and experience a weekend of awesome fellowship at Mount Olivet Baptist Church (MOBC) as the Sister to Sister ministry hosts its annual Women’s Convocation weekend May 20-22.  Our belief is that each woman possesses unique beauty—inside and out—and this year’s theme bears that out. Under the visionary leadership of Rev. Dr. Adolphus C. Lacey, Pastor, this year’s convocation is based on Songs of Solomon 4:7, which says “You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.”  Thus, this weekend is designed to encourage our faith, bolster our confidence and bind us in unity.  All activities are open to the public and will take place at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, located at 11 Rev. G Franklin Wiggins Plaza in Peekskill.  The weekend unfolds as follows:

Friday, May 20: Women Only Worship. A light reception will be provided at 6 pm followed by worship service at 7 pm.  The guest preacher is Dr. Ebony Marshall-Turman of Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. 

 

Saturday May 21: Culinary Brunch & Food Demo with Chef Laurie Gershgorn from 9:30 AM – 12 Noon   A live, interactive food demonstration will be led by Chef Laurie of  Healthy Culinary Creations.  Participants will learn the techniques used to prepare a three-course brunch (using fresh, local seasonal ingredients), taste delicious dishes and take home recipes.   

 

Sunday May 22:  Women’s Convocation Community Worship Celebration at 7:45 am & 10:45 am  Celebrate in Sunday worship with guest preachers the Reverend Emma Jordan –Simpson of Concord Baptist Church in Brooklyn, and the Reverend Dionne Boissiere of New Hope Baptist Church in Danbury, CT. 

 

Please note that the culinary brunch is free but registration is required due to limited seating.

The culinary brunch and food demo is sponsored by Project HOPE, a faith-based health-promotion project of Hudson River HealthCare in partnership with PAPA and Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with funding from the Westchester Community Foundation.  The Westchester Community Foundation (WCF) is a nonprofit community endowment for the benefit of Westchester County.  Its mission is to develop and manage philanthropic resources, and to distribute them in a way that is responsive to donor interests and community needs.  The Foundation actively promotes charitable giving on behalf of the area’s nonprofit organizations. WCF is a division of The New York Community Trust, one of the largest community foundations in the country with assets of approximately $1.8 billion.
