Cortlandt, Yorktown Residents Cycle 270 Miles to End Lou Gehrig’s Disease

Written and report by Plamena Pesheva.

They are called The Vicious Cyclistsfor a reason.

There's nothing stopping the team of five Yorktown and Cortlandt young men from embarking on a three day, 270-mile charity bike ride with the mission to end amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The Vicious Cyclists' Max Bluestone, Harrison Bluestone, Tim George, Linus Hamann, all of Yorktown; Paul Dorsa of Cortlandt Manor, along with approximately 400 other Trek cyclists, will cycle in the 11th annual Tri-State Trek from Boston, Mass. to Greenwich, Conn.
They are raising awareness for ALS and money to help accelerate the development of treatments and ultimately a cure.

"Since participating three years ago, I have been incredibly inspired to return and work with this amazing organization and group of people to find a cure for ALS," Max Bluestone said. "I know that our actions have the ability to change the lives of many people, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to do so.”

ALS, commonly known as “Lou Gehrig’s disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that leads to paralysis and eventually death. Most survive no longer than five years with the disease. It has no cure and no effective treatments and affects more than 30,000 people in the US.

"The Trek is one of the best things I have ever been able to get involved with, and no way was I going to pass up the opportunity to do it again this year," George said. "It is such an incredible ride, and my friends and I have been looking forward to it all year."

The 11th annual Tri-State Trek will take place from July 19 to July 21. To support the Vicious Cyclists’ efforts, visit their page here
