Peekskill Ceremony for Four Chaplains Postponed

Editor's note: This story was originally published at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31, and updated at noon Feb. 3.

The American Legion and the City of Peekskill will pay tribute to the Four Chaplains—who sacrificed their lives to save those of civilians and military members as the USAT Dorchester sank Feb. 3, 1943—during a ceremony next week.

It will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, in the common council chambers. The event was originally scheduled for Feb. 3 but the city rescheduled it because of inclement weather.

During the ceremony officials will honor the four US Army chaplains: George L. Fox, Alexander D. Goode, Clark V. Poling and John P. Washington.
