BID Approves Support for Several Events

A family circus program is also planned for the summer

The Peekskill Business Improvement District has approved funding
for several upcoming events. Approval was given during the district’s monthly
meeting Tuesday, May 3.

BID Chair Jeannette Phillips said the Banner Project was approved
for $500, the Caribbean Splash scheduled Aug. 27 received $4,000 and the 14th
annual Open Studio Event on May 14 and 15 was approved for $750.

The studio event will feature work by more than 100 artists, 40 of
them in their studios, and special exhibitions in galleries, museums and other
venues throughout the city from noon to 5 p.m. All sites are free. Members of
the public are invited to meet the artists, celebrate art throughout the
afternoon and music at city cafes in the evening.

The BID meeting was held at the Field Library with the board in
full attendance. About half a dozen members of the public were also on hand.

BID members also discussed a circus program that will come to
Peekskill this summer, Aug. 15 to 24. A circus school as well as
shows will be held during that time. The board approved $4,000 in funding and
will continue discussing the program at its next regular meeting, at 6 p.m. Tuesday,
June 7.
