Westchester County Provides Mobile Command Vehicle to Peekskill Police

Legislator John Testa was joined by his colleagues on the Board of Legislators (BOL) in passing an Inter Municipal Agreement (IMA) to provide a "Mobile Interoperable Commend Vehicle" to the City of Peekskill.  The IMA was approved by a unanimous 17-0 vote at the regular meeting of the Board of Legislators on Tuesday November 12, 2013.

The Executive Board of New York State Counter Terrorism Zone Three which is comprised of Westchester and Putnam Counties determined that northern Westchester would benefit from the addition of this command and communication vehicle.  Westchester County recently purchased a new command and communications vehicle through funding provided by a federal grant from the Department of Homeland Security.

Legislator Testa, who served three terms as Mayor of Peekskill, said, "This agreement is a great benefit to Peekskill and the neighboring communities.  It is important that we continue to invest in the equipment that is needed to keep out residents safe and secure.  This vehicle will also be used in mutual aid situations in neighboring towns."  Testa went on to say, "This agreement is also an excellent example of how the county and municipalities can work together on sharing services or in this case equipment to help control municipal costs."

Peekskill's size and population density make it an ideal location for the placement and operation of the vehicle.  The agreement is for a term of five years and can be extended after that period.
