Putnam Valley is gearing up for their annual town-wide celebration, scheduled this year for Saturday Sept 21. (Rain date 9/22) Under the very capable direction of Councilperson Jackie Annabi, the principal organizer of Town Day, this years event is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before. Over 50 community groups, civic organizations and businesses sponsor booths and games. From Avon to Zeppoli- attendees will find an ‘alphabet soup’ of foods, products, services and information. “Town Day is a day where our youth and members of the community can come together, have fun and be safe. Where parents know they can take their family out for the day, watch a parade, play games, go on rides , eat great food and see amazing fire works all in one place and not feel as though they broke the bank.” said Ms Annabi. The day will begin with a parade starting at the High School/Middle school campus on Peekskill Hollow Rd at 1pm. The parade route winds through the Oregon Corners area of town and ends at Morrissey Dr and Oscawana Lake Rd. This years parade will include State and Local Officials, Local and Town first responders, a VFW Color Guard, scouting organizations, youth sports teams, classic cars and child care centers. Festivities will then commence at the Leonard Wagner Memorial Park at 2pm. There will be two DJ’s throughout the day, Jimmy Cialella in the early hours, and the ever popular Captain Ron Blanco in the evening. Visitors can view an art display as well as a Native American tipi. The animal kingdom will be represented by the llamas, who are making their third appearance at Town Day. Carnival attractions are always a big hit with the Towns’ youth and their parents, provider C and N Amusements of Newburgh will bring an assortment of rides, along with jump/bounce castles and a climbing wall. Pay one price wristbands for rides and bouncers will again be available. The day will culminate in another spectacular show by Fireworks Extravaganza, who never fail to amaze with their massive colorful display.
