Hendrick Hudson Celebrates New NHS Members

The Half Moon Chapter of the National Honor Society held its 2014 Induction Ceremony at Hendrick Hudson High School, in Montrose, on May 28. Sixty-two new members were admitted to the Society.

Administrators present included Joseph Hochreiter – Superintendent; Dr. Alice Gottlieb – Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Instruction and Professional Personnel; Enrique Catalan – Assistant Superintendent for Business;   James L. Mackin, Jr. – Principal; Daniel Callahan – Assistant Principal; and Joseph DiGiovanni – Assistant Principal.

After Amanda Quinones sang the National Anthem and adviser Christine Guadagno greeted the participants and guests, the formal program began. Principal Mackin offered words of welcome, followed by Society members Dylan Gambardella, speaking on Scholarship; Molly Jackson, on Service; Liana Alves, on Character; and Cassidy Boyle, on Leadership.

Mr. Hochreiter and Dr. Gottlieb each offered words of encouragement, after which Mrs. Guadagno presided over the Presentation of Members. Society Vice President Dylan Gambardella presented the National Honor Society Influential Staff Member of 2014 Award to Mr. Bradley Fredman.

The National Honor Society Faculty Committee includes Francois Barcomb, Marcia Bailey, Colleen Blair, Ken Manse, and Juliana Maye. The Society members also offered a word of appreciation to the Faculty Committee, Clare Carey, Carmen Koch, Jill Wheeler, and the HHHS Custodians.
