Cortlandt Manor, NY - (June 4, 2012) – Dr. William J. Higgins, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts on May 11.

As Vice President of Medical Affairs, Dr. Higgins oversees the medical operations of the Hospital and its more than 350 physicians. He is also Medical Director of The Westchester Medical Practice with offices in Westchester and Putnam Counties.
Dr. Higgins joins an exclusive group of physicians numbering nearly 800 nationwide who have completed the MBA program at UMASS developed in partnership with the American College of Physician Executives—the national specialty society representing physicians in medical management. The University of Massachusetts program features a unique concentration of curriculum in medical management. It is becoming one of the most popular degrees for physicians serving in health care leadership roles.
In addition to his other roles, Dr. Higgins has maintained a thriving medical practice with his wife, Ellen a nurse practitioner. He was a Clinical Preceptor at New York Medical College in Valhalla. He is well respected in the senior community and was appointed by the Governor of the State of New York to sit on the Council for Alzheimer’s Disease and Age Related Dementias. He is a past Director of the Hudson Valley Region of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Dr. Higgins obtained his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and did his residency and fellowship training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been in local practice for 21 years. Dr. Higgins lives in Peekskill with his wife Ellen, and their son, Liam.
