Buchanan, N.Y. – Control room operators removed unit 2 nuclear power plant from service this morning to repair one of four pumps that supplies cooling water to the plant’s reactor. The pumps are located inside the containment building.
There was no release of radioactivity and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission was notified of the shutdown.

Indian Point Energy Center, in Buchanan, N.Y., is home to two operating nuclear power plants, unit 2 and unit 3, which generate approximately 2,000 megawatts of electricity for homes, businesses and public facilities primarily in New York City and Westchester County.
