Updated, Nov. 10, 9 a.m.: Board of Elections released the final results. With 100 percent of Peelskill’s election districts reporting, the Westchester Conty Board of Elections shows that only 3,167 people voted in Tuesday's mayoral election. Foster won 1,834 votes and Washington received 1,333 votes. City council candidates received between 1,300 and 1,700 votes each, with the democrats leading, showing that about 1,500 people voted in that race. With a population of 23,500 people, 18,290 are over the age of 18 and, those with citizenship, are eligible to vote. The 3,167 people who voted …

Supervisor Linda Puglisi and council members Dr. Richard Becker and Frank Farrell were re-elected to their positions last night. Justice Daniel McCarthy wins election for town judge, according to unofficial numbers from the Westchester County Board of Elections. According to the BOE, with 37 or 39 districts reporting, Puglisi received 4,484 votes, Becker received 4,003 votes and Francis received 4,002 votes. In the County Legislator race for District 1, incumbent John Testa garnered about twice as many votes as democratic challenger Michael Kane, according to the unofficial Westchester County Board of Elections results announced last night. In the District 9 race, Democrat Catherine Borgia received about 55 percent of the votes, beating her Republican opponent Susan Konig by ten percentage points. (Details at the end of this article). The Peekskill Democrats were in lead the entire night as unofficial numbers from the Board of Elections rolled in to Dem headquarters tonight. Mayor Mary Foster won the election with 59 percent of the votes, or 1,538 votes, with Republican challenger Tony Washington earning 1,080 votes, according to Westchester County Board of Elections. Update, Nov. 8, 8:45 p.m. A steady stream of voters strolling in to Peekskill High School gym to vote have different priorities as they head to the polls. Many agree that education and support for the city's youth is a key issue. Others mention the environment, Indian Point, speed bumps, supporting the library and litter. "Education, the jobs issue, and, what is near and dear to my heart, giving youth opportunities," said Keith Stanton, a 20-year resident of Peekskill who has an 11 year old son. The Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee had no finding in a complaint from Republican candidate for Peekskill Mayor against Darren Rigger, candidate for Peekskill Common Council and the Peekskill Democratic City Committee. The future of Indian Point, which needs its license renewed before 2015 to continue as a nuclear powerhouse, looks diametrically different to the two county legislature candidates in the plant’s home district.
