I stand by my statement- until these contracts are fully re-negotiated and the unions start…Read More contributing to their benefits and taking zero % or minimal raises, the taxes will continue to increase year after year- Buchanan will no longer be the so-called "bargain" some claim it is.

Hey Fly, before you make comments, you should check the facts. The contracts are alive and well.…Read More Mr. Donahue should try learning to read and checking the facts before sending his brilliant letters to the editor in for publishing. They are almost always entirely fictional....but perhaps he really believes what he says. Yeah, right. He intentionally makes up stories to sucker people like you into believing his nonsense.

I saw this article linked on Facebook and wanted to comment. I graduated from PHS in 1983 and took…Read More some of Mr. Testa's first technology courses. My interests were not focused on industrial arts classes and I don't recall what brought me to sign up - perhaps it was the mentoring of Mr. Testa through the soccer team. In any event, I remember those courses well and although I did not pursue a career directly related to this content their value was substantial nonetheless. The foundation of any quality educational program lies in broad-based course offerings available to students, particularly in exposing them to technology and arts in addition to all of the traditional academic subjects. I am sure that the classes are very different now and it seems that technology actually should be mandated given the ubiquitous application to all other subjects. Of course I have no knowledge of the details of the Peekskill Schools at this time but I do know that these programs matter and I also know that good programs should not end when good teachers retire. I understand (generally) that the district faces many challenges, but I hope that the district will consider that the value of technology course offerings may in fact be part of a solution to those challenges.
