New York Giants Player and Children’s Author Shaun O’Hara to Visit PMS

New York Giants’ Shaun O’Hara has chosen Peekskill Middle School as his first stop to present his new children’s book.

The New York Giants’ Shaun O’Hara will visit Peekskill Middle School on June 1, but he won’t be talking about his best plays, his Super Bowl ring, or anything that has to do with his all-star status. O’Hara will be presenting his new children’s book, which aims to teach children to make smart decisions about money by teaching them the basics of finance. He will share insights from the book and some life lessons he’s learned through playing football.

"I remember my dad selling the family car when he wanted to start a business" says O'Hara. "There was no going into debt--no credit cards. My parents taught us to spend what we earned and be fiscally responsible."

O’Hara will speak at 10 a.m. at a school-wide assembly along with Pete Dominick, a well-known comedian and commentator who is featured regularly on CNN, and two Peekskill High School graduates: Michael C. Skouras, PHS Class of 1984 and Richard B. Bennett, Jr., Class of 1985. Bennett and Skouras are executive producers making the publication of O’Hara’s book possible. They are also developing other book and television projects involving sports figures and celebrities. The two PHS graduates will also be sharing some experiences and advice with the middle school students.

"I always felt that coming back to your roots was important," says Skouras. "My high school years at PHS were fantastic and I have always held the community very near and dear to me. I know Rich feels the same way, especially with much of his family still living in the area. “

After launching their presenting to the PMS students, O’Hara, Bennett and Skouras plan on making further presentations to area schools.

“We are very pleased to have this group of individuals speak to our students,” confirms Principal David Fine. “The life lessons they will share are immensely valuable.”
