Tuesday night, senior Mark Grant accomplished an even loftier personal goal by winning his class at the 2013 Sectional Wrestling Tournament held at Pace University.

Going into the tournament as the 3rd seed, Mark upset the top contender and won the 113 lb. weight class in dramatic fashion by scoring 4 points with only 10 seconds remaining.

Hendrick Hudson hasn’t had a Sectional champion since 1990 when two-time State Champion Anthony Alberti was crowned.

Varsity Wrestling Coach Paul LaVallee remarked, “Mark has worked extremely hard all season to reach this goal and is very deserving of the title Champion!”

Mark will be heading to Albany to compete in the State Tournament on February 22nd and 23rd.
