We Are Accepting Nominations In The Comments Section

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and it is just about time for guys to freak out about where to take their special somebody. Patch is offering you a way to help out the clueless romantics who need to figure out where to go.

So, this week's food fight asks, what is the most romantic restaurant in Peekskill or Cortlandt?

Over the next two days, until Friday at 4 p.m., we will accept nominations in the comments of this article and in the reviews of your selected restaurant, which you can find in our directory. The winner will be announced first thing Sunday morning. Then we will know the most romantic restaurant in the area!

If you need help thinking of places, check out the Peekskill-Cortlandt Patch directory.

About this column: Each week, the Peekskill-Cortlandt Patch will seek the best place to get certain entres and snacks in the area. The Food Fight will allow readers to vote on their favorite place to get a burger or a latte or a steak, etc., in the area. Chuck & Oley's Rainbow Emporium.

I also like the sensual atmosphere of Emperor Penguin Chinese Food in the Beach Shopping Centre. They have a half-naked Buddha, which you will not find at 12 Grapes.

Restaurants are not romantic. How romantic is a $150 bill for a plate of rice and broccoli? Me thinks not. Me and the woman like to get a supersize egg salad sandwich from Baisley’s and go picnickin’ at the Annsville Trail, an awesome vacation spot for young and old alike. We read the graffiti on the rock wall (some of it is rather good), tell stories around the Indian stone circle and imagine Dutch imperialist traders wading up on shore. Sometimes a dog will bounce by, chasing the ghost of the long-departed Jan Peeck. The following day, we get half-price Valentine’s Day candy at the drugstore.

I don't know how good the restaurant is but the best restaurant location is where the Peekskill Motor Inn is. Sunsets can be pretty spectacular from there

Excellent choice. They have very good food to boot. Not sure if they still offer it but the rock shrimp and pasta is righteous.

The Paradise kicks it! Real Italian foodstuffs, not the fake goods. Great desserts. The Margiottas are my second family. I'm on their Wall of Fame. I might even change my name to Philander Margiotta.

Definitely 12 Grapes with Curtis Winchester performing. Hands down. No one else is even close.

This is a trick question. There is no romantic restaurant in Peekskill or Northern Westchester. Go North or South, unless you need an excuse for Alka Seltzer. Peekskill is home to the most expensive bad restaurants in Westchester. Sad, but true.

12 Grapes does have that atmosphere but so does Cortlandt Colonial and they have the soup & salad buffet included with entrees. If I can only vote for one, then Cortlandt Colonial. I first found out about them when they sent me a "welcome to the neighborhood" coupon for free entree many, many years ago.
