Here are five things you need to know for the weekend, Feb. 3-5.
1. EagleFest
Peekskill’s Riverfront green and Croton Point Park will be transformed into an eagle viewing show Saturday for EagleFest. Read more about the Teatown Lake Reservation annual event here. Also, The Cove will host two animal shows at 1 and 3 p.m. Read about that here.
2. Gigilio Games
Lakeland and Walter Panas will face each other in the annual Giglio Memorial Scholarship Games this Saturday at Panas High School. Read more here.
3. Peekskill Organizations Win Arts Awards
Congratulations to Peekskill’s recipient of Arts Westchester Arts Alive grants: Andrea Elam, Antonia Art, Inc., Cross-Cultural Connection, Inc. and Sisters in Support Inc. Read more about the grants here.
4.Megadeck2 Art Event
Megadeck2 is the sequel to an art show featuring 23 Peekskill area artists celebrating the skateboard deck. Each artist creates a piece of art from a blank skateboard deck as well as shows a piece of their own; creating a unifying relationship between the exhibiting artists. The exhibit features the artists’ visions of urban life and includes sculpture, paintings, photographs and video installation. The opening reception is Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the upper gallery of the Paramount Center for the Arts.
5. Be First Boxing Ribbon Cutting
Peekskill’s community boxing organization will hold a ribbon cutting in honor of Fred Spry Senior Saturday at 1137 Main Street at 1 p.m.
